this was the first week the boy took the bus to school so some morning scheduling adjustments had to be made. his bus is supposed to arrive a couple of houses down the street from our house at 7:37am but the kids who rode it last week informed us it was arriving early. apparently we are the first stop of the day so it is a very long ride and they don’t get to school until after 8.
our house seems to be on the central corridor of every bus route in the city, probably because we live close to the public elementary, middle, and high schools. so from the moment i get up there are buses zooming past the house. one of which should apparently stop and pick up the uniformed kids.
on monday the boy was a little anxious and the bus showed up even before 7:30am so we didn’t get much time to dwell on things before he was onboard and on his way. on tuesday we actually had enough time to take a picture or two of him. the rest of the week went smoothly and we seemed to be getting our schedule in sync. next week i’ll let him sleep in a little bit longer since there is about ten to fifteen minutes when we are all ready to go and just have to wait around.
next week is when he starts full day kindergarten, which means bus ride in the morning and bus ride home after school. there are rumblings that the bus ride home is just as long as the ride in the morning, but the mother’s of the neighborhood have started a campaign to try to get the kiddies home earlier.
in other news, the baby is sick, she has a head cold and has just been pitiful the last few days. she looks at us with the: “this never happened on the inside! is there any chance i can go back in for awhile?” look.
the girl is being a great big-sister and helper-lady. she’s been expanding her boundaries and is now allowed to travel down the street (only with her brother) to play the land version of sharks and minnows with the rest of the kids.
other than school, the boy is excited that football is starting this sunday. not to watch it but because we will make our first batch of chili.
