One week ago I was inevitably laid off from my job. I say “inevitably” because the company I worked for was acquired by a much larger company whose technology was almost 100% different than the tech we used. I have in the past, and was once again, over the next eighteen months working myself out of a job.
That being said, the past two years were decent to me; with the acquisition and the bonus plan. I also have a decent severance package for my seven years of service.
Generally while working I am at DEFCON 5, once the acquisition happened I upgraded the threat level to DEFCON 4. Once 2024 rolled around, seeing what was going to happen, DEFCON 3 was initiated. That is my current Defense Condition. If I write another post in a month and still don’t have a job or prospects, I suspect the Defense Condition status will change again.
